Khronos

""I'll bite you!""

submission: Khronos
date: October 22, 2008

It was pretty decent, and I had fun with it, but I'm just not keen on the fact that I can leave walking torsos (or legs, headless torsos, etc.) walking around raring for a fight. I admit that it's quite funny at first, but then I can't help but feel as though I'm trying to fight a whole bunch of Black Knights all at once. If I manage to decapitate an enemy, it'd be nice if they died for it.

Besides that, though, some of the combos that seemed to want to go into each other didn't work very well. Khronos seemed to love jumping at the invisible enemy with his swords held high on the other side of the enemy I was currently fighting. The whole dramatic jump-at-the-enemy thing can work and would be great, if only he were maybe jumping high -up- into the air to deliver the blow rather than trying to do a standing long jump before doing it.

Other than that, a pretty nifty beat-em-up. As for copying God of War, big deal if you were inspired bu it or anything, I don't see as many of the little piss-ants bitching and whining when someone makes a movie or game with sprites directly from an actual game.

Crunchdown

"Buggy, glitchy, pile o'.."

submission: Crunchdown

It was so bugged and glitched I couldn't get past the second boss. Not only were there small glitches having to do with graphics from other abilities staying on you, but I at one point became completely invisible when I tried to chomp the second boss thinking that might deal a killing blow. To my surprise he became completely invincible after his health bar depleted and I couldn't do anything to continue. I would become visible after I inevitably died, but turned invisible again later chomping something else.

Poor collision detection, movement, and what-have-you kept me from hitting enemies constantly, picking up items and all sorts of things. Sometimes I'd get a power like the bicycle wheel and I'd run right through all the enemies on the screen.

Bugs along with just poor gameplay and mechanics for a beat-em-up just made this a horrible experience for me. The dialog left a lot to be desired, too.

I gave you a three because it was a tad inventive to combine the things you did, and some of it was in fact a bit amusing (Most of the powers were pretty funny). Otherwise, it could have used a lot more work and debugging before being put up.
